{"id":11926,"date":"2026-08-20T13:17:39","date_gmt":"2026-08-20T13:17:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=11926"},"modified":"2026-08-20T13:17:40","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T13:17:40","slug":"key-extortion-gang-commander-killed-in-police-encounter-in-karachi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=11926","title":{"rendered":"Key Extortion Gang Commander Killed in Police Encounter in Karachi"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Karachi:<\/strong>&nbsp;A key commander and active shooter of an alleged extortion gang was killed in a police encounter in North Nazimabad, according to the District Central Karachi Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The encounter took place on&nbsp;<strong>August 19, 2026<\/strong>, on the main road near Abdullah College in Block U, North Nazimabad, within the jurisdiction of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan Police Station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to police, officers exchanged fire with suspected extortionists during the operation. One suspect was killed in the exchange, while his accomplice managed to escape from the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police identified the deceased suspect as&nbsp;<strong>Muhammad Bilal, son of Ibrahim<\/strong>. A 9mm pistol, a loaded magazine and 10 live rounds were reportedly recovered from his possession. Police also recovered two mobile phones during a further search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police described Bilal as an important commander and active shooter associated with an alleged extortion gang linked to&nbsp;<strong>Samad Kathiawari and Jameel Chhanga<\/strong>. According to the police account, he was allegedly involved in carrying out shootings intended to intimidate victims and force them to pay extortion money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Investigators allege that Bilal helped provide financial support to the gang through extortion activities. Police said he had allegedly been involved in delivering extortion notes to businesses and construction projects in different parts of Karachi and subsequently opening fire when the demanded money was not paid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police said they have obtained CCTV footage allegedly showing Bilal involved in several extortion-related incidents. The suspect had also reportedly been arrested in connection with previous cases and had spent time in jail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to police records cited in the statement, several cases had been registered against Bilal at different police stations across Karachi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police specifically linked the deceased suspect to a shooting at&nbsp;<strong>Gojaba Sweets in NKIA on August 10<\/strong>, where he was allegedly involved in opening fire after an extortion demand was not met. The shooting reportedly injured one police officer and two passers-by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Investigators have also obtained CCTV footage related to the Gojaba Sweets incident, according to police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police further alleged that Bilal had demanded extortion from an under-construction project in&nbsp;<strong>Ferozabad<\/strong>&nbsp;during the previous month. After the alleged demand was not met, he reportedly returned to the site and opened fire. CCTV footage of that incident has also been obtained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another alleged extortion incident occurred at&nbsp;<strong>Lakha Estate and Builders in Gulberg<\/strong>, where police said a demand was made last month. When the requested amount was allegedly not paid, the premises were reportedly targeted with gunfire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police said CCTV footage of the shooting at Lakha Estate and Builders has also been secured as part of the investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The suspect was further accused of delivering extortion notes to under-construction projects in&nbsp;<strong>Surjani Town and Manghopir<\/strong>&nbsp;last month. Police alleged that he later opened fire at one of the projects after the extortion demand was not met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the encounter, police launched raids to arrest the accomplice who escaped from the scene.
