ISLAMABAD: The government has launched a new Retailer Scheme App to help traders register with the tax system and make it easier for small shopkeepers to file their tax returns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad alongside the Finance Minister, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani said the Retailer Scheme App had been officially launched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the scheme had been developed after consultation with traders and was also available to shopkeepers who were not yet registered with the tax authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Bilal Azhar Kayani, shopkeepers would be able to become tax filers through the app. Small traders would also be able to file their tax returns using their mobile phones, making the process easier and more accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said registered retailers would receive an exemption from the Point of Sale system under the scheme. Small shopkeepers would have to pay a minimum tax of Rs25,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister said traders registered under the scheme would also receive a green plate. He explained that an FBR officer would not enter a shop displaying the green plate, subject to the rules of the scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bilal Azhar Kayani said registered retailers would pay one percent tax on their sales through the scheme. He added that the app would also be made available in local languages by the first week of September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister expressed hope that the scheme would bring millions of traders into the formal tax system. He said that if the scheme proved successful, it could help reduce the tax burden on the salaried class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government believes that the new digital system will make tax registration and return filing easier for small traders and encourage more businesses to become part of the formal economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said the government was also working to simplify the tax return process for salaried individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the tax return form for salaried people would be made simpler so that they could complete the filing process more easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The launch of the Retailer Scheme App is part of the government\u2019s broader efforts to expand the tax base, improve compliance and bring previously unregistered businesses into the tax network.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
