{"id":11307,"date":"2026-01-30T14:06:18","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T14:06:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=11307"},"modified":"2026-01-30T14:06:22","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T14:06:22","slug":"iran-threatens-instant-and-decisive-blow-after-us-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=11307","title":{"rendered":"Iran threatens instant and decisive blow after US attack"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tehran says US bases, aircraft carriers are within its missiles range.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Says US bases can become &#8216;legitimate targets&#8217; if US attacks.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Military spox warns Iran&#8217;s response to US action will not be limited.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>PARIS: Iran threatened on Thursday to instantly strike US bases and aircraft carriers in response to any attack, after US President Donald Trump warned time was running out for Tehran and the EU blacklisted its Revolutionary Guards as a terror group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Brussels and Washington dialled up their own rhetoric and Iran issued stark threats, UN chief Antonio Guterres called for nuclear negotiations to \u201cavoid a crisis that could have devastating consequences in the region\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An Iranian military spokesman warned Tehran\u2019s response to any US action would not be limited \u2013 as it was in June last year when American planes and missiles briefly joined Israel\u2019s short air war against Iran \u2013 but would be a decisive response \u201cdelivered instantly\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia told state television US aircraft carriers have \u201cserious vulnerabilities\u201d and that numerous American bases in the Gulf region are \u201cwithin the range of our medium-range missiles\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf such a miscalculation is made by the Americans, it will certainly not unfold the way Trump imagines \u2013 carrying out a quick operation and then, two hours later, tweeting that the operation is over,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An official in the Gulf, where states host US military sites, told AFP that fears of a US strike on Iran are \u201cvery clear\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt would bring the region into chaos, it would hurt the economy not just in the region but in the US and cause oil and gas prices to skyrocket,\u201d the official added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Protests in Iran<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Qatar\u2019s leader Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Iran\u2019s President Masoud Pezeshkian held a call to discuss \u201cefforts being made to de-escalate tensions and establish stability,\u201d the Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The European Union, meanwhile, piled on the pressure by designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) a \u201cterrorist organisation\u201d over a deadly crackdown on recent mass protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018Terrorist\u2019 is indeed how you call a regime that crushes its own people\u2019s protests in blood,\u201d said EU chief Ursula von der Leyen, welcoming the \u201coverdue\u201d decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though largely symbolic, the EU decision has already drawn a warning from Tehran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iran\u2019s military slammed \u201cthe illogical, irresponsible and spite-driven action of the European Union\u201d, alleging the bloc was acting out of \u201cobedience\u201d to Tehran\u2019s arch-foes \u2014 the United States and Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iranian officials have blamed the recent protest wave on the two countries, claiming their agents spurred \u201criots\u201d and a \u201cterrorist operation\u201d that hijacked peaceful rallies sparked over economic grievances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump had threatened military action if protesters were killed in the anti-government demonstrations that erupted in late December and peaked on January 8 and 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But his recent statements have turned to Iran\u2019s nuclear programme, which the West believes is aimed at making an atomic bomb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Wednesday he said \u201ctime is running out\u201d for Tehran to make a deal, warning a US naval strike group that arrived in Middle East waters on Monday was \u201cready, willing and able\u201d to hit Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conflicting tolls<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Iranian authorities acknowledge that thousands were killed during the protests, giving a toll of more than 3,000 deaths, but say the majority were members of the security forces or bystanders killed by \u201crioters\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Billboards and banners have gone up in the capital Tehran to bolster the authorities\u2019 messages.
