ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday approved several summaries forwarded by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, including those seeking the summoning of the National Assembly and Senate sessions on August 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement posted by the President\u2019s Secretariat on X, Zardari approved the conferment of military honours on 1,172 personnel of the armed forces and civil armed forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The president also approved the summoning of the National Assembly session on August 17 at 5pm and the Senate session at 4pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zardari further approved a special 100-day remission in the sentences of eligible prisoners on the occasion of Independence Day and Eid Miladun Nabi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President\u2019s Secretariat said that the remission would apply to prisoners eligible under the relevant criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The president also approved the conferment of national honours on citizens belonging to various civil sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier this week, Zardari had given his assent to the appointment of 19 additional judges to five high courts, along with the confirmation of five others as permanent judges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
