Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, leading a high-level delegation, visited General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where he met Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral relations between Pakistan and Norway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir highlighted Pakistan\u2019s perspective on global peace and regional stability and stressed the importance of cooperation and joint efforts to address shared security challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Norwegian foreign minister appreciated the professional role played by Pakistan\u2019s armed forces in promoting peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Norway and expanding mutual engagement and cooperation in the fields of defence and security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide also met with Pakistan\u2019s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, the regional situation and global issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Welcoming the Norwegian foreign minister to Pakistan, Ishaq Dar said he had a cordial meeting with Espen Barth Eide. He thanked Norway for remaining in contact with Pakistan during the period of tensions between Pakistan and India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dar also expressed appreciation for Norway\u2019s continued engagement with Pakistan during the tensions between Iran and the United States. He said Pakistan was committed to further strengthening relations with Norway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that Pakistan and Norway have enjoyed a 78-year partnership and expressed Pakistan\u2019s desire to further develop close and strong relations with the Scandinavian country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on the occasion, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said a large Pakistani community lives in Norway and that Norwegian companies are contributing to Pakistan\u2019s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said Pakistan had played an important role in promoting regional and global peace. According to him, tensions between the United States and Iran could have negative consequences for global peace and the international economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Norwegian foreign minister praised the Pakistani leadership for its courageous role during difficult circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
