{"id":10217,"date":"2026-08-09T12:35:35","date_gmt":"2026-08-09T12:35:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=10217"},"modified":"2026-08-09T12:35:36","modified_gmt":"2026-08-09T12:35:36","slug":"independence-day-sports-gala-held-for-children-of-non-formal-education-centres-in-umerkot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=10217","title":{"rendered":"Independence Day Sports Gala Held for Children of Non-Formal Education Centres in Umerkot"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>UMERKOT (District Reporter Ahmed Khan Bhurgari):<\/strong> Independence Day celebrations continued across different areas of Umerkot district, with social organizations arranging a range of sports and recreational activities to engage children and promote national spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the celebrations marking Pakistan\u2019s 79th Independence Day, the Save the Lives Foundation (STLF), in collaboration with the Directorate of Literacy and Non-Formal Education, Government of Sindh, organized an Independence Day Sports Gala for children enrolled at non-formal education centres operating in Umerkot district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sports gala was held in the village of Mansingh Meghwar, Samaro, where a variety of sports, recreational competitions and fun activities were arranged for participating children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event featured cricket, musical-chair-style competitions, marble and spoon races, running competitions, skipping rope and several other recreational activities. Boys and girls took part enthusiastically in the competitions and demonstrated considerable energy and sporting spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A large number of local residents and parents also attended the event to encourage the children and appreciate their participation. The presence of parents and community members added to the festive atmosphere and provided the participating children with confidence and encouragement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event was organized as part of the Independence Day celebrations to promote patriotism, national unity and a sense of responsibility among children. National flags were displayed at the venue, while various activities were arranged to help children understand the importance of independence and their responsibilities as future citizens of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The organizers also interacted with children studying at the non-formal education centres and encouraged them to continue their education and participate in healthy and constructive activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Children who demonstrated outstanding performances in different competitions were presented with prizes and trophies. The prize distribution ceremony was attended by STLF Manager Afzal Mallah, Amar Mohan Lal, Sawai Mal Chouhan, Ali Hassan Soomro, Wali Muhammad Sand, Farzana Bhatti, Kalyan Das, Jaisaram and Dhanesh Kumar, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking on the occasion, STLF representatives including Afzal Mallah and Amar Mohan Lal Ratnani briefed participants and guests about the activities of the foundation in Umerkot district. They said that the organization is currently operating 40 non-formal education centres in different parts of the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They explained that the objective of these centres is not limited to providing children with basic and quality education. The foundation is also making efforts to provide students with opportunities to participate in sports, recreational programmes and other positive activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The representatives said that extracurricular activities are important for the physical, mental and social development of children. They said sports help children develop discipline, teamwork, confidence and a healthy competitive spirit, while recreational activities provide them with opportunities to learn and interact in a positive environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The organizers emphasized that children studying at non-formal education centres deserve the same opportunities for learning, personal development and participation in healthy activities as other students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Independence Day Sports Gala was therefore presented as an initiative aimed at combining education with sports and community participation. The event also provided children from different backgrounds with an opportunity to come together and celebrate Independence Day in a joyful and meaningful manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the programme, children expressed their enthusiasm for Pakistan\u2019s Independence Day and demonstrated their patriotic spirit through various activities. The organizers said such programmes help strengthen children&#8217;s connection with their country and encourage them to become responsible members of society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event also highlighted the role of community-based organizations in supporting children who may otherwise have limited access to formal educational and extracurricular opportunities. By combining education, sports and recreational activities, the foundation said it seeks to create a supportive environment for children&#8217;s overall development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the conclusion of the programme, children, parents, organizers and other participants jointly celebrated Independence Day. They expressed their commitment to national unity, peace and progress and conveyed their love for Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Save the Lives Foundation reiterated its resolve to continue providing children with better opportunities in education, sports and other positive activities.
