Naushahro FerozeResidents of village Ramzan Morojo in Naushahro Feroze staged a strong protest at the Press Club, accusing the Darial Khan Mari Police of unlawfully abducting a local youth and demanding money for his release.
The villagers — Naeem Morojo, Saleem Morojo, Zafar Morojo, and Ubaidullah Gadhai — appeared before the media, alleging that the police had picked up their relative, Asadullah Morojo, from a lawyer’s office in Moro town a few days ago and subsequently disappeared him without any legal record of arrest.
They said that despite the incident being several days old, the police have not shown his arrest in any official documents nor presented him before a court. “Asadullah was taken away in broad daylight,” the protesters claimed, “and since then, we have no information about his whereabouts. The police are refusing to disclose any details.”
The villagers further stated that a false encounter case had previously been registered against Asadullah by the same police station, but the Naushahro Feroze court had already granted him bail in that case. “Even after receiving bail from the court, the police, led by SHO Lahno Khan Buzdar, abducted him again,” they said.
According to the protesters, the Darial Khan Mari police are now demanding Rs. 500,000 for his release. “They are threatening that if we fail to pay, they will kill him in a fake encounter and later justify it as crossfire,” the villagers alleged with visible distress.
They condemned what they described as blatant abuse of power and misuse of authority by the local police, calling it a severe violation of human rights. “If our relative has committed any crime, he should be presented before a court of law,” they said. “But kidnapping an innocent person and demanding ransom under the guise of law enforcement is unacceptable.”
