Sukkur (Press Release) — The Mayor of Sukkur and Spokesperson of the Sindh Government, Barrister Arsalan Islam Sheikh, held an important meeting today with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Women Wing President and Member of the Sindh Assembly, Faryal Talpur, to discuss a range of initiatives focused on women’s empowerment, protection of their rights, and social development programs in Sukkur and across the province.
During the meeting, both leaders engaged in detailed discussions on enhancing women’s participation in social, economic, and political spheres, and on the implementation of welfare projects aimed at improving women’s quality of life. The agenda also included exploring opportunities to strengthen women’s role in local governance and promote inclusive development through targeted interventions in education, health, and employment.
Barrister Arsalan Islam Sheikh emphasized that no society can progress without ensuring the active and equitable participation of women. He highlighted that under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Sindh Government is giving special attention to policies and initiatives designed to uplift women through education, healthcare, employment opportunities, and protection measures. “Empowered women are the foundation of a strong and progressive society,” he remarked, reiterating his administration’s commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and economically vibrant environment for women in Sukkur.
PPP Women Wing President Faryal Talpur, while appreciating the efforts of local administrations in promoting women’s welfare, announced that the PPP government will further strengthen women’s welfare programs and support centers across Sindh, including Sukkur. She underscored the importance of coordinated efforts between local governments and provincial institutions to create secure, accessible, and enabling spaces for women in both urban and rural areas. “The PPP has always championed women’s rights and will continue to take concrete steps to ensure that every woman in Sindh has the opportunity to grow, lead, and contribute meaningfully to society,” she said.
