Kot Ghulam Muhammad – October 18, 2025:
A woman fainted at the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) center in Kot Ghulam Muhammad due to extreme congestion and long waiting hours. According to reports, an ambulance immediately reached the site after receiving the information and shifted the unconscious woman to Civil Hospital, where she was given first aid and later reported to be in stable condition.
Eyewitnesses and several BISP beneficiary women, while talking to the media, expressed frustration over the poor arrangements at the payment center. They said that only three biometric devices were functioning at the center, which resulted in a massive crowd and suffocation-like conditions for the waiting women. Many of them said that due to the lack of proper space, ventilation, and crowd management, several women fainted during the process.
One of the beneficiaries said, “We have been waiting for hours under the sun without any shade or seating arrangements. Only three machines are working for hundreds of women, and that’s why the rush is uncontrollable. We request the authorities to increase the number of devices and staff so that this chaos can be reduced.”
Responding to the situation, Deputy Director BISP Riasat Chaudhry personally visited the center and briefed the women. He assured them that their complaints were being taken seriously and immediate steps would be taken to resolve the technical issues.
He emphasized transparency and protection of beneficiaries’ rights, saying, “This money belongs to you. Do not allow anyone to make any deductions. If anyone tries to cut or withhold your payment, report it immediately to the BISP office.”
Chaudhry also urged the beneficiaries to always collect a receipt from the device operator after receiving their payment, explaining that the receipt serves as proof of the transaction and shows the exact amount transferred and received.
