Heavy rains swept across various parts of Pakistan, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, while the northern highlands welcomed the first snowfall of the winter season.
In Karachi, late-night showers soaked several areas, including North Karachi, North Nazimabad, Orangi Town, Metroville, Baldia Town, and Buffer Zone. The downpour also disrupted electricity supply in North Nazimabad’s Block G, leaving residents without power.
In Punjab, Lahore experienced widespread rainfall, transforming the weather into a pleasant autumn chill. Showers were reported in Township, Johar Town, Link Road, Model Town, Ferozepur Road, Peco Mor, Qainchi Stop, Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate, and Akbar Chowk. According to the Meteorological Department, intermittent rainfall is expected to continue for the next 24 hours in the provincial capital.
Elsewhere in Punjab, Multan, Faisalabad, and Jhang recorded thunderous rainfall. In Lodhran, torrential rains inundated multiple roads, bringing urban life to a standstill, while power outages hit several neighborhoods. Pakpattan and Kamalia were lashed with heavy rain and thunder, whereas Chichawatni experienced a mix of rain and hailstorms, affecting both urban and rural areas. Similar weather patterns were observed in Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, and Kabirwala, where strong winds and thunder accompanied the showers.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was also drenched in rain, making the weather refreshingly cool. Charsadda and its adjoining areas of Shabqadar witnessed light rain throughout the night. Swat’s plains saw intermittent showers, while the higher altitudes of Kalam and Malam Jabba turned into winter wonderlands with the season’s first snowfall. This early snow brought a noticeable drop in temperatures and drew excitement among locals and tourists alike.
Further north, Mansehra and Muzaffarabad were battered by heavy overnight rainfall, adding to the overall wet spell across the country.
With the change in weather, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has advised citizens to brace for continued rainfall in Islamabad, Punjab, KP, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, cautioning that isolated regions may also experience hailstorms. The combination of widespread rains and snowfall has set the tone for the arrival of winter, refreshing the atmosphere while simultaneously creating challenges such as flooding and electricity outages in low-lying areas.
